I honestly believe I did better than I expected. Not that I had any self-doubt about passing phase one, but it was more than I expected it to be. This allowed me to push myself to get the work done because I knew that if I fell behind, I wouldn't have been able to catch up due to my personal life getting in the way. One thing I do want to do differently is the way I study for my bonus quizzes because I only study for 1 hour the night before we have the test, and I feel like I should at least give myself 30 minutes every other day to research and understand what the bonus quiz are asking me to do and then the night before recollect all my notes to make sure I ace the next one.
The skill that stuck with me the most from chapter 4 was 4.5.2 Page and Column Breaks. The reason I chose this one is because of the column breaks. I didn't know that you could properly break columns to make them look proper on a page, and this will be very useful in my PSY101 class for the project I have coming up. Luckily, I already knew how to do a page break from previous experience.
The way I will be preparing myself for the MO-110 Word certification exam will be to restudy the parts I had trouble with in LabSim or that caused me to take longer than I should. Also, I need to figure out what the MO-110 Word certification exam consists of.
My oldest daughter's birthday was on Valentine's Day, and we were able to take her out on Saturday after my class to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay and to go eat at Red Robin, which is the spot she chose to go because she really likes the donuts they serve there with chocolate and caramel dipping. Man, I just can't believe that she is already 6 years old. Time flies by quick. I swear I can remember the first day she was brought into this world like it was yesterday.
Taking your oldest daughter to the aquarium at Mandalay Bay then donuts with chocolate and caramel dipping for her sixth birthday after class on a Saturday sounds like fun ^_^
ReplyDeleteColumn break is a cool feature indeed, much more cooler than a simple page break.
Very glad to hear you did better than you expected during Phase 1 of IS101-3205 :-)
Looking forward to see more participation on the bonus quizzes from you, Christian!
Hey Christian,
ReplyDeleteIt’s really cool to hear how phase one went for you! I totally relate to the feeling of needing to push yourself. These past four months have been a lot, but it’s awesome seeing how you stayed on track even with everything going on.
Your idea to space out studying for the bonus quizzes makes a lot of sense. I’ve been doing the last-minute grind too and yeah, it’s not ideal. I might give your method a try for the next one. Sounds way less stressful.
And wow, same on the page and column breaks! I didn’t realize how much cleaner everything looks when it’s done properly. Definitely something I’ll keep using even after this class.
Also, happy belated birthday to your daughter! Can’t believe she’s already 6! That aquarium and Red Robin combo sounds like such a fun day. Glad you got to make those memories with her after class! ^-^

ReplyDeleteHi Christian,
ReplyDeleteLove this reflection! It’s awesome how you pushed through Phase 1 and already have a solid plan to improve for the next round. Also, happy (belated) birthday to your daughter, that aquarium trip and Red Robin treat sound like such a fun celebration!
Time really does fly. Keep up the great work, you’ve got the right mindset!
First off, belated birthday wishes to your daughter.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, it was very helpful to me when I learnt about page and column breaks as it looked much more professional when I was done.
Happy belated Birthday to you daughter. They grow up so quick and its crazy seeing how they develop as people. Based off your PowerPoint I can tell you've been doing great in this class. Keep it up.
ReplyDeleteHi Christian! I’ve started enjoying using page breaks now that I finally learned about them, and column breaks were also a great additional tool to discover. It sounds like you and your daughter had a fun time celebrating her birthday! I always forget that Red Robin still exists, I’ll have to check out their donut dessert and treat myself to their bottomless fries next time!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you did great! I bet you did awesome on the MO-110 exam with how you're planning to study. Spacing out your bonus quiz prep is a smart move. And yeah, column breaks are definitely a game-changer! That birthday outing sounds like a blast—time really does fly! Happy belated to your daughter!
ReplyDeleteI think its great that you have already been able to take a skill that you have learned from IS101 and apply to other class assignments! I am very glad that you did better during Phase 1 than you expected. Keep up the hard work and I know you will do even better in Phase 2! Happy belated birthday to your daughter! I took my son to the aquarium for his 1st birthday...... feels like it was yesterday, but he's already almost 6!
ReplyDeleteHappy (belated) birthday to your daughter! Honestly, that birthday sounds like a dream. To be honest, Christian, it sounds like you are doing amazing with the accolades I've heard during class, so to not only be able to keep up and go above and beyond is so impressive, kudos to you!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your reflection it's super honest and relatable. It’s impressive how you stayed focused and didn’t let personal life distractions throw you off. I think your new approach to studying for bonus quizzes sounds like a great plan breaking it up like that will definitely help! And I totally get what you mean about column breaks I had no idea how useful they were either until Chapter 4. Also, happy (belated) birthday to your daughter! Sounds like you gave her an awesome day those Red Robin donuts hit the spot every time. Time really does fly. Wishing you the best on the MO-110 prep, you’ve got this!
ReplyDeleteHey Christian, I agree with you that it is better to stay on top of this class because it can be difficult to catch up once you fall behind. I have fallen behind before and it was not fun trying to play catch up. I definitely plan on redoing some of the LabSim labs as a way to study.
ReplyDeleteHi Christian, first of all I love your background. I appreciate your dedication for this class, especially with your busy life. Just like you said, you need to push yourself in order to stay on top of everything.
ReplyDeleteHi Christian, I learned that the hard way that this class can be hard when you do not keep up with the work. You got this!
ReplyDeleteHi Christian, I like your goal of wanting to invest more time in studying for the bonus quizzes, those mean a lot for knowledge, even if it's not so high in points, every point counts!

ReplyDeleteWorking full time, going to school and having a personal life is very challenging I found that out this semester. Studying a little bit every other day rather than the night before does make a huge difference. I will be doing that on my next semester. I love Column Breaks they were clean, easy to use and change. She likes the good things! Red Robin and an aquarium sound like a fun birthday. I had no idea Red Robin had donuts, that sounds delicious, I will have to try next time I go.
